The people behind the neon at the rink

Neonrinkarcade started as a group chat. A few friends spread across Canada kept sending each other links to browser games during long winter evenings, arguing about which ones were actually worth playing. Eventually the arguments became notes, the notes became reviews and the reviews became this site.

We focus on one corner of gaming: quick-match arena and .io games that run in a browser. These are games you can open in a tab and be playing within a minute, which makes them perfect for a lunch break, a commute home on the GO train with a laptop, or a whole evening when one more round keeps turning into ten.

Every game here has been played by our team across many sessions, at different times of day, in different modes and on different machines. We write down what we actually experienced: how fast matches start, how fair the lobbies feel, what free players can and cannot do and where the fun really lives.

We are not interested in hype. Some games on our list are brilliant at one thing and weak at another, and we say so plainly. Our scores are honest, our order is argued over, and when a game changes, we play it again and update the review.

01

Play first, write second

No review is written until the game has been played properly, across several evenings and modes. Facts come from the game itself and its official pages, not from guesswork or marketing copy.

02

Respect the reader’s evening

Our readers have limited free time. We tell you exactly how much a game asks of your week, so you can choose one that fits rather than one that swallows every evening.

03

Fairness counts for a lot

We pay close attention to how free players are treated. Games where purchases change how fights go are marked down, and we explain why in plain language.
